US President Joe Biden considers Russia’s “North Stream-2” a bad deal for Europe. The statement was released by the White House today.
Recently, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters that President Biden thought the project, known as Nordstream, was a “bad deal for Europe.” Accordingly, Washington will consider the issue of the pipeline at this stage and then make a decision on whether to suspend it in the direction of the need for sanctions.
The administration of the previous president, Donald Trump, also opposed the completion of the project. The pipeline is to deliver Russian gas to Germany via Ukraine via pipeline installed on the Baltic Sea. Last year, with bipartisan consent in Congress, the White House imposed sanctions on the pipeline and its construction was temporarily halted.
