Prime Time Zone, Webdesk: According to a World Economic Forum (WEF) report, cities in India have been hit hard by the Kovid-19 crisis, but they will also play a key role in the country’s economic recovery after the Corona. Cities account for about 70 per cent of the country’s GDP, as well as 25-30 migrants from rural areas to urban areas every minute in the country, the report said.
According to the report, nearly 2.5 crore households in the country and 35 per cent of households in urban areas are unable to afford affordable housing. The report believes that the corona crisis can be used to change the appearance of cities and to create better medical facilities and infrastructure for the people.
The WEF report with the IDFC Institute found that the corona pandemic had a wide range of effects on many communities, with the poor and middle-income groups losing their jobs, especially health and social security. The plan calls for abandoning plans along with outdated guidelines and taking better measures for infrastructure development along with transportation in cities, the report said. Revealed that steps need to be taken to further strengthen the rental housing market.
