Corona cases, bond yield fears among investors
The Sensex lost 585 points
New Delhi: Domestic stock markets suffered losses for the fifth day in a row. Investor sentiment was hurt as US bond yields rose 5 per cent and corona cases rose again in the country. Markets opened with gains on Thursday. The Sensex gained 490 points. But then the last time went towards losses. The Sensex lost 585 points to close at 49,216. The Nifty lost 163 points and settled at 14,557 points.
Mainly stocks like HCL Tech, Infosys, Dr Reddy’s, NTPC, TCL, Reliance and Tech Mahindra lost 2%. Shares of Divis Lab, GAIL, Hero MotoCorp, Axis Bank, Wipro and Cipla also lost ground. On the other hand, ITC, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, HDFC, PowerGrid and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers. The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices fell 1.3 per cent and 1.6 per cent, respectively. Sector-wise, FMCG and metal were the biggest gainers, while Nifty IT was the biggest loser.
