The Ministry of Infrastructure foresees the generation of more than 200 thousand jobs, directly, indirectly and with an income effect, throughout the lease and concession contracts.
“On April 7, we will have the auction of 22 airports. It’s the same amount as all the previous rounds we’ve done. At once. On April 8, we make the West-East Integration Railway. On the 9th, we will make five port terminals ”, explained the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas.
According to the national secretary of Civil Aviation, Ronei Glanzmann, the result of the auction of 22 airports may represent more than R $ 6.1 billion in investments. The auction will be held on the 7th and involves long-term projects, with concessions of up to 30 years.
The auctions of 22 airports will be divided into three blocks: South, North I and Central. The South Block is formed by nine terminals: Curitiba, Bacacheri, Foz do Iguaçu and Londrina (PR), Navegantes and Joinville (SC), and Pelotas, Uruguaiana and Bagé (RS). Seven make up the Northern Block I: Manaus, Tabatinga and Tefé (AM), Porto Velho (RO), Boa Vista (RR), and Rio Branco and Cruzeiro do Sul (AC). Six more form the Central Block: Goiânia (GO), Palmas (TO), São Luís and Imperatriz (MA), Teresina (PI) and Petrolina (PE).
The total investment in the three blocks exceeds R $ 6 billion, of which R $ 2.8 billion in the South Block, R $ 1.8 billion in the Central Block and R $ 1.4 billion in the North Block. In a single day, the government will transfer the same number of airport terminals as the total currently granted (22).
On the 8th, it will be the turn of the Fiol 1 auction, the first stretch of the West-East Integration Railway, between Ilhéus and Caetité, in Bahia. The concession of the 537 km stretch should guarantee R $ 3.3 billion in investments, of which R $ 1.6 billion will be used to conclude the works. The concession period will be 35 years.
Fiol 1 is an important project for the disposal of iron ore produced in the region of Caetité (BA) and the production of grains and ore from the west of Bahia through Porto Sul, a port complex to be built in the vicinity of the city of Ilhéus (BA) ).
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the federal government works to implement two more stretches: between Caetité (BA) and Barreiras (BA), and from Barreiras (BA) to Figueirópolis (TO), when, in the future, it will interconnect the port from Ilhéus to another railway: the North-South.
On the 9th, five port terminals will be leased: four at the Port of Itaqui (IQI03, IQI11, IQI12 and IQI13), in Maranhão, and one at the Port of Pelotas (PEL01), in Rio Grande do Sul.
More than R $ 600 million are expected to be improved in these terminals, adding to another 20 auctioned areas since 2019 and 69 authorizations for the implementation of Private Use Terminals (TUP). During this period, R $ 10 billion have already been contracted for the sector, which, even in a pandemic year, grew 4.2% in 2020.
The four areas in the northeastern port are dedicated to the storage of liquid bulk, according to the main vocation of the enterprise. The complex works as a distributor for the North and Northeast regions, through coastal shipping. In total, the four terminals total more than 120 thousand m².
The terminal (PEL01) at the port of Pelotas (RS) is dedicated to cargo in general, especially wood logs, contributing to the pulp production logistics chain, and has an area of around 23 thousand m².
In addition to the 28 assets to be granted this week, the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) will hold on April 29 the auction of BR-153/080/414 / GO / TO.
The prospect is for more than R $ 8 billion in investments and more than 140 thousand jobs.
In two years, the concession program has auctioned 41 assets and contracted R $ 44 billion in investments – and another R $ 13 billion in grants. In 2021, the expectation of the Planalto Palace is to be granted more than 50 projects, which would guarantee another R $ 140 billion for the sector.
The government forecast is to reach the end of 2022 with the contracting of R $ 250 billion in infrastructure.
