Single bid was given by Bamin, which is entitled to the concession of the structure for 35 years
Bahia Mineração SA (Bamin) took the concession of the West-East Integration Railway (Fiol 1), between the Bahian municipalities of Ilhéus and Caetité, for R $ 32.730 million, in a single bid event held on Thursday, 8 , at B3 headquarters, in São Paulo. The purchase entitles the concession for 35 years of the structure, totaling R $ 3.3 billion in investments. The company will also be responsible for completing the remaining 20% of the work, estimated at R $ 1.6 billion. According to the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), the venture will allow the creation of 55 thousand jobs over the Bamin concession period. The event is part of Infra Week, the concession agenda initiated by the Ministry of Infrastructure this Wednesday, 7, with the auction of 22 airports, in 12 states. The agenda ends on Friday, 9, with the offer of five port terminals.
With a length of 537 kilometers, Fiol 1 is expected to start operating in 2025, with an initial capacity of 18 million tons of cargo, mainly iron ore. The federal government expects to double this capacity in a decade, surpassing 50 million tons by 2035. ANTT and the federal government are also planning the Fiol 2 concession, between Caetité (BA) and Barreiras (BA), with works in progress , and Fiol 3, from Barreiras (BA) to Figueirópolis (TO), which is awaiting an installation license from Ibama. A flow corridor will have a total of 1,527 kilometers of tracks, connecting the port of Ilhéus, on the coast of Bahia, to the municipality of Figueirópolis (TO), where Fiol will connect with the North-South Railway and the rest of the country.
