New Delhi: The government has extended the deadline for filing GST annual returns for the last financial year (2019-20). The government has given until March 31 for GST (Goods and Services Tax) returns. This is the second time the deadline has been extended. Previously, the government had extended the deadline from December 31 to February 28, 2020. Taxpayers have brought to the attention of the government the problems they are facing on tax payment in a short period of time. With this, the government has decided to extend the deadline for filing of GSTR9 and GSTR9C for the financial year 201920. The Union Finance Ministry said that the Election Commission had also given its approval.

Protest from 5 on GST, e-commerce issues

New Delhi: Traders’ body CAIT has decided to hold a nationwide protest from March 5 on GST and ecommerce issues. The CAIT said that issues related to GST (goods and services tax) were being misrepresented by foreign e-commerce companies. The traders’ body said the protest would start from March 5 and continue till April 5. The CAIT said the GST and ecommerce issues were directly linked to eight key sectors in the country and would continue to protest until an appropriate solution was found. However, the company said that the ‘Bharat Vyapar Bandh’ issued by the CAIT (Confederation of All India and Traders) on February 26 was well received.
