Prime Time Zone, Webdesk: Domestic equity markets ended flat again this week. The Sensex index, which had started the morning with small gains and was under selling pressure throughout the day, finally ended with a modest gain. The Nifty also started trading with a low point gain in the same trend but eventually registered losses. Shares of telecom, metal and auto stocks, however, were bullish on IT, banking and finance stocks.
At the close, the Sensex gained 12.78 points to close at 51,544 and the Nifty lost 10 points to close at 15,163. In the Nifty, banking, finance, pharma and private sector stocks strengthened marginally, while metal, FMCG, media and auto stocks declined. In the Sensex, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Infosys, HDFC and SBI gained, while ITC, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Bharti Airtel, Titan, NTPC and Maruti Suzuki lost ground. Rupee exchange rate against US dollar Is at 72.84.
