The Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho

The deadline for requesting new extraordinary support for workers’ income ended last Friday and applications will be considered this week. The unemployed are afraid that, after almost two months without income, payments of the new support will arrive only in March.

THE Cash Money contacted the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, under the tutelage of Ana Mendes Godinho, who explained that the assessment of each request will be made after the deadline for requesting support. This means that just this week orders – at least 50 thousand – will be analyzed.

The office does not advance the date on which Social Security expects to begin making the first payments. Last week, Ana Mendes Godinho indicated that payments will take place in order of order entry, but also without advancing dates.

Many potential beneficiaries of the new support are concerned that payments will arrive only in march, at a time when the end of the month is approaching.

The morning writer writes that there are unemployed people who, after receiving the Social Security information by e-mail that they could apply for AERT, saw canceled other requests for support that already took for granted.

This is the case of Liliana Pereira. To the Cash Money, said that until December he was receiving the unemployment benefit, and had an application for long-term unemployment support approved for transfer on 26 February. Based on this information, he made a commitment to the landlord to pay the rent on that date.

It turns out that, given the possibility of accessing AERT, he decided to cancel the previous support request.
