About 100 thousand needy families will receive vouchers worth 1,300 euros to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
Part of the money from “European bazooka” will aim to improve energy efficiency. The Ministry of the Environment has announced that 100 thousand vouchers will be distributed 1.300 euros by Portuguese families to pay for works that improve thermal comfort.
According to Jornal de Notícias, these vouchers will cover the total expenses incurred and will include the purchase of electric stoves, heaters, equipment to cool the house or the installation of solar panels for the production of energy for self consumption.
Support can also be used to pay works that improve the energy efficiency of homes, such as changing doors, windows or lining exterior walls and roofs.
The first contest is expected to be launched this summer and is expected to reach at least 20,000 households.
The voucher system is being designed based on a “network of local suppliers”, says the Deputy Secretary of State for Energy, João Galamba, ao JN.
“There is an opportunity, hitchhiking combating energy poverty, to boost the local economy that will sell the equipment and make the installations in the houses ”, said the government official.
Of the six million residential buildings, more than half were built without thermal requirements. The warning from the Zero association is not new, but the Government’s support was only announced this Wednesday.
The Government expects this process to be completed by the end of June.
