New Delhi: Food processing in the country (Rs. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a product-linked subsidy (PLI) scheme with an investment of Rs 10,900 crore. Union Food Minister Piyush Goyal told reporters that the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, had approved a scheme to create 2.5 lakh jobs, boost exports and provide more products to consumers.
He said the decision would be of great benefit to the farmers. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said the PLI scheme for 12-13 sectors has been announced in the latest budget introduced by the Union government. He said the cabinet today approved the PLI scheme for the food processing industries. He said the scheme would attract foreign investment and help farmers get cheaper prices for their crops.
