The deadline for workers without social protection to request the new Extraordinary Support for Workers’ Income (AERT), for January, has been extended until the 19th, the Social Security Institute announced this Friday.
“Bearing in mind that Extraordinary Support for Workers’ Income is in the first month of implementation, it was extended until the 19th of February the deadline for submitting the application for this support ”, reads a note published on the Social Security website.
The application, which is made through the Direct Social Security website, has been available since February 8 for most situations, but for beneficiaries of social unemployment benefits, the deadline has just started on the 10th.
Initially, the January support deadline ended next Sunday.
In five days, Social Security received 40,685 requests for the new Support Extraordinary to Workers’ Income (AERT), according to data published this Friday by the Ministry of Labor’s Strategy and Planning Office (GEP).
“For clarifications on Extraordinary Support for Workers’ Income, the Social Security Line (300 502 502) will be exceptionally available on February 13, Saturday from 9am to 6pm”, Informs the ISS.
AERT came into force in January with the State Budget for 2021 (OE2021) and covers workers in a situation of economic deprotection caused by the covid-19 pandemic, namely employees, interns, self-employed, informal, domestic service workers and members of statutory bodies.
For most situations, support is subject to resource condition (set of household conditions, such as income and value of movable assets).
The amount of support varies between 50 euros and 501.16 euros for most workers, but in the case of micro and small business managers, sole traders, the maximum limit is 1,995 euros.
Support has different rules for each concrete situation of social deprotection, with a maximum duration from six months to one year (until December 31, 2021) and should be required monthly.
For example, according to Social Security guides, an employee who was left without unemployment benefit of 504.63 euros on January 15 will have the benefit automatically extended for six months, until July 15, that amount.
Once the extension ends in 2021 and, if you fulfill the condition of resources to access the subsequent unemployment benefit, you will receive that benefit in the monthly amount of 351.05 euros, plus a supplement of 150.11 euros to total the 501.16 euros provided for in the AERT.
If you do not meet the resource condition for unemployment benefit, then you can apply for AERT as long as you meet the resource condition required for this support.
In turn, an unemployed person without access to unemployment benefit, is entitled to AERT for 12 months, provided it fulfills the condition of support resources and have at least three months of contributions in the last year.
If he does not have contributions, the worker can also ask for support, but he only receives it for six months and is obliged to open a job as a self-employed person, maintaining the link to Social Security for 30 months.
A self-employed person who receives a cessation allowance ending in 2021 is entitled to support for 12 months and, if his activity is subject to the duty of closure, he has no means of recourse in the first six months.
