The generation of jobs in U.S accelerated and totaled 379,000 in February, according to data released on Friday (5) by the country’s Department of Labor. The US unemployment rate dropped from 6.3% in January to 6.2% in February.
January’s job generation figures have been revised from 49,000 to 166,000. The job cuts in December increased from 140,000 in the original report, to 264,000 last month and is now estimated at 306,000.
In February, the average hourly wage increased by 0.23% over the previous month, or $ 0.07, to $ 30.01. In the annual comparison, the wage increase was 5.26%. The forecasts were for a monthly increase of 0.20% and an annual gain of 5.2%.
