Inflation core is much higher than the BC would like
The president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, said that the core of inflation is much higher than the monetary authority would like and mentioned the difference between market and BC expectations for inflation, with economic agents projecting Higher IPCA.
According to Campos Neto, BC has started to see market expectations for inflation in 2022 rising as well, and is focusing most of its attention on that front.
Campos Neto reiterated that the BC is giving a strong message that it will do whatever it takes to control inflation in the relevant horizon amid rising expectations for the IPCA and the impact of various shocks on the advance of prices in the economy.
