O Emmy Awards 2021 announced the nominees for the main categories of its 73rd edition earlier this Tuesday afternoon, 13, in a ceremony hosted by Ron Cephas Jones, from This Is Us, and his daughter, actress Jasmine Cephas Jones, from Hamilton.

Winners will be revealed on September 19, at an event attended by some of the nominees and their companions at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The Emmy is promoted by the US Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

HBO led among all networks with 130 nominations, closely followed by Netflix with 129. In the last edition, Netflix set a nomination record – it had 160 – but it took 21 awards, while HBO did better with 30 .

The Emmy is one of television’s most important awards. In 2020, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the awards ceremony was virtual and the Emmy consecrated productions such as Watchmen, Succession, Ozark, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Kominsky Method, The Mandalorian, Better Call Saul and Little Fires Everywhere (see list of awardees in 2021).
