After A Prince in New York 2, Amazon will produce Ace Ventura sequel

After 25 years of the release of its latest film, the Ace Ventura franchise will win a new chapter on Amazon. The studio, which recently brought back Borat and A Prince in New York, will develop a third adventure of the character immortalized by comedian Jim Carrey.

Morgan Creek, president of Morgan Creek Entertainment, the producer responsible for the franchise and for films like Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves (1991) and The Last of the Mohicans (1992), confirmed the information in an interview on the distributor’s website Park Circus.

“We are excited to develop new projects for new franchises like The Exorcist and Ace Ventura,” said Creek, also citing the already announced reboot of the classic horror film.

According to the producer, the biggest thermometer to understand that the public would like to see a third Ace Ventura film was the success of the film’s official Facebook page during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is remarkable that 3 million fans are demonstrating on the Ace Ventura Facebook page and crying out for a third adventure. During the [pandemia de] Covid-19, the audience has fallen in love and asked dear characters to be brought back with new stories. Ace Ventura will see a new day on Amazon as a big project that will be written by the screenwriters of Sonic: The Movie [2020]”, he completed.

The Ace Ventura franchise had two films released in 1994 and 1995 and has become one of the great successes of Jim Carrey’s career. In the plot, he plays the title character, an unusual detective specializing in animal-related crimes.
