Miguelina Elói Assis dos Santos, mother of former player Ronaldinho Gaúcho, died on Saturday (20). She was hospitalized since December 2020 at Hospital Mãe de Deus, in Porto Alegre, after testing positive for Covid-19.
At the end of last year, Ronaldinho announced the hospitalization of Dona Miguelina through his social networks. “Dear friends, my mother is with Covid-19 and we are in the fight for her to recover soon.”
“She is in the intensive care center, receiving all the care. I thank you in advance for your prayers, positive energies and the usual affection. Strength, mother,” wrote the star at the time.
According to UOL, a person close to the family said that Dona Miguelina had a brief evolution, but that her condition has worsened in recent days due to an infection.
The report also mentions that Ronaldinho’s mother’s condition worsened on Saturday morning, the family was called, and she died in the late afternoon.
The former player has not yet officially commented on his mother’s death, but he expressed mourning on his social networks by exchanging his photo for a completely black image.
