José Bonifácio Oliveira Sobrinho, Boni, was immunized against Covid-19 this Friday (12) in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 85, the businessman received the first dose of the immunizer at the Citizenship Center Rinaldo de Lamare, in São Conrado. “Let’s hope that vaccine arrives for everyone now,” he said.
The former Globo mandachuva received the first dose of CoronaVac, a vaccine developed by the Butantan Institute in partnership with the Chinese laboratory Sinovac, on his right arm. He arrived at the place by car and took the immunizer from inside the vehicle, in the drive-thru system.
The owner of Rede Vanguarda, Globo’s affiliate in the Vale do Paraíba region, reinforced his desire for the national immunization campaign to be successful. “I would like the entire population to be vaccinated, not only to prevent deaths, but also for us to touch the economy because the country is in need,” he justified, in an interview with CNN Brasil.
Boni is part of the priority group that should be immunized at the beginning of the campaign. In Rio de Janeiro, according to the calendar, elderly people aged 85 started to be vaccinated today (12). According to the Municipal Health Secretariat, more than 200,000 people received the immunizer in the city.
The former director of Globo joins several personalities with advanced age who received the vaccine, such as Silvio Santos, Laura Cardoso, Elza Soares, Lima Duarte, Ary Fontoura, Renato Aragão and Stênio Garcia. Most of them extolled science and called for denialism and disinformation in the pandemic.
