Oscar winner Natalie Portman was confirmed in the cast of The Days of Abandonment, an HBO film that will adapt the book of the same name written by Elena Ferrante, the same author of the Napolitana Series collection, which gave rise to the hit premium channel A Amiga Genial.
According to the Deadline website, the film is already in pre-production under the command of Maggie Betts (Novitiate), who wrote the script and will be in charge of the direction. In addition to starring, Natalie will also serve as executive producer alongside Elena Ferrante.
The Days of Abandonment plot centers on Tess (Natalie), a woman who has put aside her own dreams for a stable home life and has her world turned upside down when her husband leaves.
Abandoned by her great love, Tess needs to rediscover her feminine identity while confronting the norms of motherhood imposed by society.
Fandango, the producer responsible for A Genial Friend and The Lying Life of Adults, a series announced by Netflix that will adapt another book by Elena, is also involved in the HBO project.
Currently, Natalie works on the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder, a feature film that marks her return to the Marvel Universe after eight years. She is also confirmed in the cast of Lady in the Lake, an Apple TV + series of which she will be the protagonist alongside Lupita Nyong’o.
