Called a “pedophile monkey” on social media in 2018, Caetano Veloso got an injunction in court for Maria Carla Petrellis to delete the offending post. The singer is suing the woman for racial injury and seeks compensation for moral damages in the amount of R $ 30,000.
According to the injunction obtained by the TV News, Judge Luiz Antonio Valiera do Nascimento ruled on December 9 last year that Maria Carla made an offensive, prejudiced and also criminal post, according to article 138 of the Penal Code, because it is slander.
On November 9, 2018, the magazine Fórum published on Twitter the news that the blogger known as Flavio Morgenstern had been ordered to pay R $ 120 thousand in compensation to the singer for creating the hashtag #CaetanoPedofilo in 2017.
On the occasion, Judge Flavia Gonçalves Morais gave a favorable opinion to the composer and considered that the defendant (Morgenstern) encouraged his followers to harass the singer, spreading a wave of hatred and offense.
The trigger of the virtual attacks was a post by the right-wing political group MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre) saying that the artist had committed pedophilia at the beginning of his relationship with producer Paula Lavigne, with whom he lives today.
Maria Carla Petrellis responded to the publication on Twitter of the magazine Fórum with the printout of a note from Folha de S.Paulo that showed an interview with Paula, in which the artist claimed to have lost her virginity to the MPB star when she was only 13 years old , while he was already 40.
“Proof of the crime of pedophilia! Caetano Veloso pedophile monkey!”, Cursed Maria Carla, who presented herself on social media as a pharmacologist and researcher at the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Butantan Institute, in São Paulo.
In fact, the couple started dating when she was 13, and he was 40. However, unlike today, in 1986 it was not a crime to relate to a person under the age of 14. Decisions were made on a case-by-case basis by the judges.
Judge Luiz Antonio Valiera do Nascimento then ordered Maria to delete the hate message within 24 hours and also ordered the defendant to pay a daily fine of R $ 1,500 per day of delay if the decision was not complied with. With no way out, Maria Carla deleted the publication and deleted her social networks.
Maria Carla Petrellis’s profile showed her as a supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro and former President of the United States, Donald Trump.
