Even without promotions within the packages of Doritos, a teenager from Australia will receive 20 thousand dollars from the brand.
The 13-year-old student, Rylee Stuart, published a video on TikTok in which she shows Doritos full of air, different from the brand’s standard, which are usually flat.
In the video’s caption, Stuart asks followers, “I found a stewed Doritos. Is that valuable or should I just eat it?”
After the success of the video, with more than 4.3 million views, the young woman decided to put the item up for sale on eBay. With bids of $100,000, the item was taken down.
“Dad said he bought the package and deserved the value. But I ate the package and found the snack so I believe the prize is mine,” Rylee told the Australian website 9news.
However, the snack brand decided to reward the young woman for her “entrepreneurial spirit”.
“We were very impressed with Rylee’s boldness and entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure the Stuart family was rewarded for their creativity and love for Doritos,” said marketing director Vandita Pandey 9news.
“It’s been a whirlwind of days for Rylee and her family and we love following her story.”
This is not the first time a food with a different format has been auctioned. A character-shaped chicken nugget from the game “Between Us” recently sold for $136,050.
