Save Yourself Who Can Come to an end this Friday (16) after facing the Covid-19 pandemic, which resulted in several torn scripts, lost plots and changing cast actors. Rodrigo Simas, Sophia Abrahão, Gabriela Moreyra and Cristina Mullins were rushed to fill a hole in Globo’s seven o’clock soap opera.
To get around the challenges of recording a plot during the health crisis, the station took the decision to remove actors from the risk group. Elderly people such as veterans Cristina Pereira and Otávio Augusto, and pregnant women like Sabrina Petraglia stayed at home during the resumption of the recordings.
It was up to author Daniel Ortiz to turn to some actors available on the fridge. Cristina Mullins, for example, was off the air since her special appearance in Malhação: Vidas Brasileiras (2018), and served to give a “company” to Ignácio (a character of Augusto, her husband in real life).
Check out the list of actors:
Rodrigo Simas replaced José Countess
The brother of Felipe Simas, Rodrigo Simas was called to the cast to replace José Condessa, a Portuguese actor who abandoned the soap opera as soon as the work of Globo’s Entertainment was paralyzed. Juan’s interpreter decided to break his contract with the station to return to his homeland, where he won the lead role in a soap opera.
Ortiz created the character Alejandro for Rodrigo to join a new love triangle with Luna/Fiona (Juliana Paiva) and Téo (Felipe’s role) in Juan’s place. In the story, the heartthrob had to return to Mexico because his father was on the verge of death.
Julia turns love triangle into square
With the removal of Sabrina Petraglia from the permanent cast because the actress became pregnant at the beginning of the pandemic, Sophia Abrahão was called in to reinforce the team. To somehow replace the character Micaela, the artist arrived as the lawyer Júlia, who became romantically involved with Rafael (Bruno Ferrari), fiance of Kyra/Cleyde (Vitória Strada).
If before Kyra was torn between the owner of Labrador Digital and Alan (Thiago Fragoso), Téo’s cousin managed to mess up the bumbling’s head even more by transforming the triangle into a love square. Everything indicates that, in the final chapter of the plot, the auditor will end up as a “consolation prize” to the heartthrob who is rejected by the decorator.
Aurora will give a happy ending to cousin
Interpreter for Francisca in the soap opera Bom Sucesso (2019), Gabriela Moreyra joined Globo’s only new soap on the air today to cover the hole left by Lúcia (Cristina Pereira) in the core of Dominique (Guilhermina Guinle) and Renzo (Rafael Cardoso). The 70-year-old veteran was also turned away from the recordings for being in the risk group of developing the severe form of Covid-19.
As Aurora, the actress arrived as a humble young woman whose dream is to become a diplomat and should end up conquering the heart of the old crush of Alexia/Josimara (Deborah Secco) who had her redemption by handing over her aunt’s gang schemes bandit.
Ignácio and Nair in the background in video call
The wife of Otávio Augusto, the plot’s Ignacio, Cristina Mullins was cast in a special appearance to help in the network’s anti-Covid-19 operation. The actress was given the role of Nair, Alexia’s grandfather’s sister, as the 75-year-old veteran was assigned to shoot scenes from his own home.
The elderly man was removed from recording at Globo’s studios to reduce the chance of contagion by the coronavirus. The solution found by the production of the telenovela was to send him for a season at the house of Alexia’s great-aunt, Alan (Thiago Fragoso) and Petra (Bruna Guerin). As the old man with Alzheimer spoke to the family by video call, Nair appeared very little on the screen.
