Away from TV since February, when he tested positive for Covid-19, Geraldo Luís returns to the Record this Wednesday (5). In an interview with the program A Noite É Nossa, which he commanded until he was diagnosed with the disease, the 49-year-old presenter will tell what it was like to be hospitalized for 22 days and what he has done to recover from the sequelae left by the coronavirus.
“I had an arrhythmia, I lost 70% of my leg movement. I also lost my foot movement, but now it’s coming back. I’m undergoing physical therapy every day, taking medication. But that’s nothing. Do you know why? Because I might not be here “, he said in the conversation with the reporter Thatiana Brasil.
The interview was recorded at Geraldo’s house in Barueri, in Greater São Paulo. The presenter was discharged on March 20, but has not yet been released to return to work in the studios.
“I survived. I am a miracle and I want to say this to everyone, that life is worthwhile. It is a moment of restarting everything. Is it the same Geraldo that I entered the ICU? No!”
The presenter stayed for 11 days in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Hospital Vila Nova Star, in São Paulo. “On the sixth day, I already had 85% of the lung taken. Then, I lost 12 kilos,” explained he, who counted on the help of his son, João Pedro Sacramento, aged 21, while he was at the medical center.
“João Pedro’s silent presence was a piece of God. When I left the ICU for the bedroom, every day it was my son who bathed me. My son became a nurse, my son was tender,” he recalled.
During the interview, Geraldo Luís also mentioned the names of some artists who helped him during this period, such as Xuxa Meneghel. “She called me when I was hospitalized, worried. When she likes it, she likes it. It’s a love. Sabrina [Sato] talked to me. Cesar Filho even brought me oxygen at home. Tom Cavalcante, Tici [Pinheiro]… “, he commented.
This will be the last program of the season of A Noite É Nossa, which aired in January. Geraldo commanded only the first month of the attraction, which was later taken over by Luiz Bacci. With the holder still out, the journalist who runs Cidade Alerta will also be at the head of this Wednesday’s edition (5) – starting next week, the banner will be occupied by the Power Couple.
“Bacci is a brother. I want to thank you for your manhood, your generosity. If one day I can return what you did, for your honesty, for your kindness with me, for your gesture … I hope that one day I can. “, said Geraldo to the substitute.
