Glória Menezes and Tarcísio Meira received the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19. The couple was immunized yesterday (22) in a UBS (Basic Health Unit) in Porto Feliz, a city in the interior of São Paulo, where they currently live. The actor is 85 years old and the actress is 86. Therefore, they belong to the group at risk of the disease.
A Tarcísio fan page on Instagram published the artist’s record at the place where he was vaccinated. In the image, he and the woman appear inside the car at the vaccination point.
Together for almost 60 years, the actors are part of the campaign to encourage vaccination starring famous people with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance of mass immunization against the coronavirus.
The action, which also includes Alexandre Nero, Cissa Guimarães, Dira Paes, Débora Falabella, Julio Andrade and Marcelo Tas, is an independent initiative among them, who did not charge a fee to record the video.
Tarcísio and Glória joined the group composed of several elderly people who received the vaccine, such as José Bonifácio Oliveira Sobrinho, Boni, Silvio Santos, Laura Cardoso, Elza Soares, Lima Duarte, Ary Fontoura, Renato Aragão and Stênio Garcia. Most of them praised science, valued the work of health professionals and appealed against denialism and misinformation in the pandemic.
Two of the greatest actors in Brazil, they were released from Globo in September last year, after 53 years of contract with the broadcaster. The end of the link of more than half a century was the result of the policy of spending cuts that the audience leader began to implement due to the pandemic. Then, both were honored in a special program shown on Viva.
