Fans of Grey’s Anatomy in Brazil were finally able to check out this Tuesday (16) what the American public had watched in November: the expected reunion of Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeu) with Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), her husband who died in 2015 in medical drama. It is difficult to know if it was possible to avoid such a big spoiler during these three months.

The second episode of the series’s 17th season left the neurosurgeon’s appearance for the final seconds, and the Sony Channel audience will need to wait until next week to learn the story’s continuation. But just the exchange of glances between the two doctors was enough to move those who have followed the MerDer journey since 2005.

The chapter that took the title The Center Won’t Hold continued the plots presented last week – in the USA, the two episodes were shown on the same day, as a single story and it was still crossed with that of the derived drama Station 19.

With the new coronavirus pandemic addressed head-on by showrunner Krista Vernoff, the Gray Sloan Memorial hospital becomes a center for the treatment of Covid-19, which keeps most doctors out of the operating room and makes them need to deal with a frightening number of deaths.

Meredith, used to saving most of her patients, even freaks out with constant losses. At the end of the chapter, she is found passed out in the medical center parking lot, and shortly thereafter has a vision with Derek.

Meanwhile, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) try to work together on a case while the doctor struggles to rebuild the relationship with the groom. After he asks her several times to open the game, and the blonde says she has nothing to say, the head of the trauma department reveals that he received the audio of her sex with Koracick (Greg Germann) on the day the two of them were together. would get married, and break up for good.

Amid so much drama, the comic relief is in the hands of Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Lincoln (Chris Carmack), who suffer both to choose the name of the baby they had and to adapt to the routine with one more child at home. All of this in the middle of the handsome doctor’s birthday – who becomes a celebration in bed after Meredith’s ex-sister-in-law manages to distract the children long enough for more adult fun.

With recordings affected by the pandemic, the current season of Grey’s Anatomy will have only 16 episodes – the second shortest in the series’ history. In the United States, six chapters were shown.

It remains rooted that other surprises such as the return of Derek Shepherd arrive in Brazil in time to really shock fans. The Sony Channel shows Grey’s Anatomy every Tuesday at 9pm.
