There are many options for living room rugs. However, just the right model that would match the style of your home.
NWhen buying a new rug for your home, think about questions such as: smoothness and height of the threads, raw material (if it is made of natural or synthetic materials), finishing (especially regarding dyeing), resistance (to use, to the loosening of the threads, to microorganisms, and to light) and cleaning possibilities.
But of course we can’t forget about its visual aesthetic. In other words, the complexity of your designs or prints, in the most varied color possibilities, and what can match each decor style. In the following text, we will give you some suggestions.
Rooms in a classic traditional style
First of all, we need to ask you some questions. The rugs you will find for sale in stores can be classified by different criteria.
They can be made from natural fibers or synthetic fibers; be dyed by vine, yarn or piece, in natural or synthetic dyes; and be manufactured in systems such as Jacquard or Tulfing, in horizontal or vertical needles.
Having mastery of this information would help you understand if the chosen pieces will meet the quality standards you expect.
However, when it comes to purchasing a new home rug, people often only care about the appearance of the pieces. So let’s stick to this question.
Decorations in a classic style will “ask” which accompaniment to rugs equally in a classic or traditional style.
For more sophisticated environments, an excellent alternative would be those rugs made by hand in countries like France, Egypt and Turkey.
These rugs tend to have a global pattern, when the inner field is filled with a variety of motifs – which can depict hunting, garden or animals. Also, repeated medallion or geometric designs and fringe at the edges.
A more affordable option is mass-produced mats. Among its vast amount of options, some are better matched with classic-style decorations.
To start with, these pieces, regardless of whether they have tall or short fur, need to be neutral in color. And it’s better that your center field is free or delicately designed; if there is any border around it, it should be smooth, in a contrasting and neutral tone as well.
Sophisticated retro & vintage-style rooms
Let’s explain this title better. Vintage and retro-style decorations refer to ambient compositions made in previous decades.
The term vintage refers more to the period between the 20s and 40s. The term retro refers more to the period between the 50s and 70s. The idea is to create a completely modern decor, adapted to current needs, but with an inspired aesthetic in these models of the past.
The rugs, although they are used as a complement to decorations, must also have a design that matches the style you want to give to a certain scenario.
Below, we present three different models of decorative rugs that could be classified as vintage or retro. And what can we see different in these images? Well, these rugs differ in color, print and shape from traditional models.
The rugs used in these three proposals stand out more in the environments; however, this happens in a still subtle way.
It’s because they follow the same colors as other elements present in the decoration – and the environment, in its entirety, already has a reduced palette. Their designs are geometric and remind us of the works of architecture, plastic arts and fashion design of the decades they represent.
Rooms with clean, modern decor
In this topic of the text, you might be surprised by the options given for room rugs. We can almost unite what we learned between items 1 and 2.
Eca rooms with a modern and stripped look follow less rules that valley of combinations and contrasts in the same measure and in a surprising way. To understand this better, you should take a close look at the three examples presented below.
In the first image we see a room with a sofa and a classic traditional type rug next to a sofa in vintage style works referring to retro, industrial and pop art styles.
The other two examples do not refer to any specific period, but use rugs in bright colors and designs that match the surrounding scenery. In common, the three projects seem to use rugs to emphasize the mood in the environment.
However, notice how, even though these environments have many colorful and flashy elements, rugs are the main focus of these decorations. They attract the eye for their colors and also for their designs. Without them, certainly, such scenarios would not be the same.
Now, identify the style of your room and choose the perfect rugs for it!
