After releasing his new gospel album, Luciano Camargo confessed that the recordings of the project were made hidden from his brother and longtime partner, Zezé di Camargo. In an interview with The Noite, from SBT, this Monday (22), the sertanejo also commented on the criticisms he received with the new musical initiative and the period in which he was infected with the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
“I spent 45 days recording without anyone knowing. Zezé knew what I wanted, but nobody knew what he was doing. If he had done this project 20 years ago, he would have been the artist. God was preparing me for today the man, the father of family, husband, Christian, did this project “, stated Luciano on the way back from the unprecedented talk show interviews.
“When I recorded it, I sent it to him [Zezé], who said: ‘Beautiful lyrics, perfect arrangement, wonderful’. We have that freedom. He has already done work with Wanessa and this is the first mine “, he added.
During the chat with Danilo Gentili, the artist spoke about the criticisms he received after the launch of the Christian initiative: “With my project I did not feel [discriminação]. I was very well accepted by the press and all television channels. However, in this world of internet, they tried to cancel me. I’m not connected to how many thousand followers “.
“Because of the project, I had to open a YouTube channel, because I didn’t want to use anything from ‘Zezé Di Camargo e Luciano’. I wanted to do it from scratch. I lost, in a week, more than 40 thousand followers. team started to follow and show me. Just because I launched a gospel project? “, he asked.
Luciano took the opportunity to share the emotion he felt when he discovered that Tempo, one of the tracks on the album, reached the first place on the radio. “It was the same emotion I felt with ‘It’s Love’. I can say today, without a doubt, that I am at the peak of my career. Not out of personal vanity, but out of spiritual vanity,” said the singer.
Covid-19 was also covered in the interview. Cured of the disease since December 2020, Luciano recalled that, because of the diagnosis, he was unable to attend the funeral and burial of his father, Francisco José Camargo.
“When I took the exam and it was positive, it came to my mind at the time: ‘I won’t be able to say goodbye to my father’. He had been hospitalized for some time in a critical situation. I couldn’t hug my father goodbye and also I couldn’t receive a hug of comfort. This is terrible. This longing will only end when I hug him again. Then I will give him an eternal hug. I have no doubt that I will meet him “, he said.
The full interview will be shown at The Noite on Monday (22), after the SBT Arena.
