MTV set up a war operation to keep the cruising loose in the middle of a pandemic in De Férias with Ex: Celebs 2, which opens this Thursday (8). As the team behind the cameras is large, it was necessary to change the protocols to offer security to the confined and not to put them at risk of exposure to Covid-19.
“We created a ‘Covid team’. Imagine having more than 150 employees working and attending to the whole process. So, we need to change the dynamics and we created an island, an isolation, from where most of the team operated to not have contact with the participants, “explained Bettina Hanna, director of the program.
Although it is a reality of confinement, De Férias com Ex has a recording dynamics different from other formats, such as Big Brother Brasil and A Fazenda. O TV News followed the recording of one of the seasons in loco and saw that the participants do many activities outside the house where the program is recorded and have direct contact with producers and videographers, due to the recordings of statements that are inserted throughout the episodes.
“Testes [de Covid-19] were done every five days, both in the team and in the participants. When production needed to approach them, they had to use PPE [equipamento de proteção individual]. Mask, apron, gloves, alcohol gel. Everything sanitized. It was a war operation. It was difficult and challenging “, said the director.
In addition, a small group was assigned to perform one-off tasks, which could pose risks to everyone in the confinement. The “Covid team” was responsible for external activities, such as going to the pharmacy to buy medication when requested by a participant, and had to undergo a strict disinfection protocol to avoid contagion.
In order to avoid direct confrontation with BBB21, a phenomenon of Globo’s audience, MTV changed the show time of its reality. The Holiday with Ex: Celebs 2 will be shown from 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm, always on Thursdays.
Another novelty is the debut of a spin-off on MTV’s programming, which will show 30 minutes without editing or cutting the recordings made in the confinement. “The goal is to respond to a request from fans, who always want more content about the program,” explained Tiago Worcman, senior vice president of MTV Latin America.
