At first, the interruption of the recording of Amor de Mãe due to the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) would only last two weeks. The deadline, however, was extended so many times that the cast feared never going back to the Globo Studios in Rio de Janeiro in order to complete the story. “It was a scare. We didn’t even know if the soap opera was going to end, because it was the world that was ending,” confesses Enrique Diaz.
The booklet returns to the air with a summary of its best moments next Monday (1st), almost a year after it went off the air in March 2020. Author Manuela Dias confesses that one of the first plans was to stretch production after the forced pause , but the seriousness of the health crisis made her review the plans alongside director José Luiz Villamarim.
“There was an oscillation in the number of chapters, we even thought about increasing the story, but soon there was the feeling that it was impossible. We had to reduce contact [de elenco e equipe] to the maximum “, reveals the screenwriter to the TV News.
An interpreter of Lydia, Malu Galli confesses that she did not believe that the broadcaster would pause all its activities due to the health crisis. “I stayed until Saturday night shooting my scenes with Tuca Andrada, we even commented that there was no way to stop. Only, the next day, we received the call,” recalls the actress.
The recordings were only resumed effectively in August 2020, under a strict security protocol. “It was a euphoria, because no ordinance that opened when Projac was opened in the 1990s had closed until then. Globo is a company that never stops and is always full of people”, assesses Murilo Benício.
The heartthrob, however, found another reality when stepping back into the studios. “It seemed that we were the survivor of a bomb. At each step someone was taking his temperature, explaining how he should proceed from there on”, he recalls.
Taís Araújo confides that he left his home for the first time in months to return to recording as the protagonist Vitória. “The desire to return had many meanings, even a false claim that everything was going to return to normal. It really gave hope and was a very important engine for me”, he explains.
The consensus among the cast, however, was about the difficulty of resuming the characters after so long locked up at home. “I was afraid of not meeting Danilo, because he no longer felt close to me. We went straight back to the set, we didn’t have time to reorganize things. Only he magically came back on the second day of recording”, concludes the capixaba .
