Karol Conká and Lumena Aleluia have mentioned several serious issues in BBB21. The duo has accused other brothers of practicing racism and even an abusive relationship within reality, but neither of them presented a real reason to support the accusations, which ends up causing a disservice to the understanding of important guidelines.
Lumena’s accusation that Carla Diaz was accepted for being a white woman, while Karol, who caused the malaise, was “passed over” for being a black woman caused a negative reaction on social media by militants from the black movement, since the rapper was really wrong and there was no room for militancy at the moment.
“The agenda of racism fits in many contexts, as race crosses the structure of our society. It is sad to see Lumena taking advantage of such an important subject to establish sensationalist notions of reality”, laments Carol Sodré, professor and historian specialized in ethnic relations -races, in conversation with TV News.
“She takes advantage of racism to impose ideas and concepts in a wrong way and distant from reality. It seems to me that Lumena is a first-time activist and does not understand the seriousness of everything she says”, points out the educator, about the episode involving Carla and Karol.
Despite the disservice, Carol believes that Lumena’s mistakes do not delegitimize the struggles of the black movement. “The blackness is wide and the currents are diverse, but it certainly hinders the work of many serious people who raise this flag”, he says.
The teacher also reinforces that the narrative of being seen as aggressive just because they are black also does not fit in the context of their reactions. “This stereotype is real, but they used a speech to try to justify a serious error and a deviation of character”, he explains.
During the last week, Lumena’s statements made deputy Anderson Moraes (PSL-RJ) register a complaint for alleged racism against Carla. The Bahian said that because she is white and blonde, the actress takes advantage of the “privilege of cuteness” to exempt herself from positioning and victimize herself, besides saying that she has a “killer doll” look due to the lack of melanin.
However, racism against white people does not exist. “In this case, Lumena agrees with the terms and notions that whiteness encompasses, but, once again, she does not evoke in the correct way”, says the historian, who considered the complaint of the Bolsonarist deputy to be absurd.
“There is no reverse racism at all. Under no circumstances. A people, an ethnic group that has never been through anything in history because of its color, cannot claim this space. What Lumena does is deviation of character and misinterpretation of facts, “says Carol.
Another subject trivialized by Karol Conká was the abusive relationship. After chasing, having bouts of jealousy and even harassing Arcrebiano de Araújo, the rapper was frustrated with the finished romance and told Nego Di and Projota that the model was abusive for not returning the affection she gave.
However, the rapper’s accusation does not match what is in fact an abusive relationship, contrary to the behavior itself. “Abusive relationship is a relationship characterized by suffering, anguish, fear, disrespect and exacerbated control,” explains Alexander Bez, a relationship psychologist.
“Another very serious and intense behavioral characteristic is humiliation”, points out the psychologist. Upon leaving the program, Araújo felt humiliated by the statements made by Karol to Nego Di, Arthur Picoli and Projota. The singer even claimed that the kiss was bad, because his tongue felt like sandpaper.
“Each person reacts and feels in different ways, it may be that the singer is more sensitive and has become emotionally confused. But there were no characteristic elements of abuse,” explains Alexander.
For the specialist, Karol’s distortions about the brief relationship with Arcrebiano are dangerous, as they can delegitimize a common and quite serious topic. “With the distortions, the person can cause an unnecessary conflict, ends up taking his guilt and projecting his dissatisfaction on the other”, he analyzes.
“In addition to being very harmful to the other, it affects the person himself. When it is not true, it can generate delusional thoughts and feelings, which make the person suffer for something that has not happened”, completes the psychologist. “The distortion of reality will always cause damage”, he concludes.
