the attacker Cristiano Ronaldo, from Manchester United, said that his return to the English club is not a holiday trip, and that he hopes to be able to prove himself again with consistent performances for the next three to four years.
The 36-year-old Portuguese spent six seasons at United between 2003 and 2009, winning eight major titles, and returned to the club after leaving Juventus last month on a two-year contract.
Upon receiving shirt 7 of the English team again, Cristiano hopes to repeat what he achieved in his first visit to the club.
“That’s why I’m here,” the player said in an interview posted on the team’s website on Thursday.
“I’m not here for vacation… Before it was good, winning important things, and I wore the shirt I wore many years ago. But I’m here to win again. I’m capable, me and my teammates. And I’m ready for that. It’s a good chance for me, for the fans, for the club, to take a step forward,” said the Portuguese star.
“I believe it will be something big in the next three or four years,” he added.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 118 goals for United, could make his debut for the club in the match against Newcastle United, in the English league, on Saturday.
