Event that officially opens the Tokyo Olympic Games takes place this Friday, at 8 am, with no public presence

After being postponed for a year, the Tokyo Olympic Games they started on Tuesday, 20, but the official opening will be this Friday, 23, at 8:00 am (Brasilia time).

Because of sanitary protocols to contain the covid-19 pandemic, no event in Tokyo will be attended by a public, and Olympics opening ceremony will not be an exception to the rule. The party will be smaller, with a few heads of state and guests present.

To watch in Brazil, the only option on open TV is Globo, which has exclusive rights to broadcast the event. On closed TV options are SporTV and BandSports. It is also possible to follow it via streaming, on Globoplay.

The ceremony is expected to honor the victims of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that led to the Fukushima nuclear disaster, with more than 18,000 dead. Team Brazil will be represented at the Olympic Stadium by judoka Ketleyn Quadros and setter Bruninho, from volleyball, as flag bearers.
