Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will start the Italian Grand Prix from pole position after increasing his Formula 1 championship lead over Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton

Max Verstappen, by Red Bull, will start the Italian Grand Prix in pole position after increasing his lead in the championship of Formula 1 over Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes for five points in a qualifying sprint this Saturday.

Valtteri Bottas won the sprint for Mercedes, but due to penalties the Finn will go to the back of the grid for the main race in Monza.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo, from McLaren, will come out in second. Seven-times champion Hamilton will come out in fourth position, behind McLaren’s Lando Norris in third.
