After 20 films, following the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) can be a confusing task for anyone who dives into this universe now. Even more so when it all culminates in the WandaVision series, Marvel’s first production for Disney +. The attraction shows Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) in a parallel reality, living in the suburb with Visão (Paul Bettany) as newlyweds.

Those who have watched only a few films in the franchise may ask themselves: but didn’t Visão die? What is Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) doing outside of Thor’s features? What is SWORD?
To help you understand, the TV News now tell you what you need to know to follow WandaVision:
Vision is dead
In the relentless search for the Jewels of Infinity, in order to erase half of humanity, Thanos (Josh Brolin) got the last stone, that of Alma, by pulling it out of Vision’s head. He ended up killing the hero in the process. All of this in front of Wanda (Elizabeth), who witnessed another trauma of losing a loved one. She had already said goodbye to her brother Pietro (Aaron Taylor-Johson) in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
As revealed in the fifth episode, the Scarlet Witch invaded the SWORD (or ESPADA, in the Brazilian version) to recover the body of Vision and revive it, going against the will of the symptoid, who made it clear in her will that no one should try to revive it.
S.W.O.R.D.
The SWORD intelligence center makes its on-screen debut after it was introduced to comics in 2004. In comics, the agency deals with extraterrestrial threats and, although it has autonomy, it is still a subdivision of SHIELD
In the MCU, however, SHIELD was dissolved after the revelation that traitors had infiltrated it in Captain America: Captain Winter (2014). So, SWORD was created to take on problems that were previously handled by SHIELD. and by the Avengers, like the city of Westview, apparently controlled by Wanda.
In the fourth episode of the series, it was revealed that the intelligence center had been founded by Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), the former pilot and best friend of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).
Monica Rambeau
Maria’s daughter Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) wakes up after the Avengers manage to reverse Thanos’ action in Avengers: Endgame (2019) and bring back half the population that had been erased by the snapping of the crazy titan’s fingers.
Upon awakening, Monica discovers that her mother had died years ago from complications caused by cancer. He also learns that Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) is now the director of SWORD in his mother’s place. The first assignment he assigns to the agent is the Westview case.
Darcy Lewis
Another MCU character that appears in the new series is Darcy Lewis, who made Thor (2011) and Thor: Dark World (2013). The scientist, best friend of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), was called by SWORD to study the anomaly that is happening in the suburb of New Jersey. It is the scientist, in fact, who manages to identify the signal for transmitting reality transformed into a comedy series by Wanda.
Jimmy Woo
Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) is another character who returns to the MCU, he participated in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018). The FBI agent was responsible for the house arrest of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Ant-Man. Woo discovers a problem in Westview when one of his witnesses simply goes missing. When he goes to investigate the case, he realizes that it is not possible to enter the city.
The new Mercury
Since October last year, Marvel has debated how to introduce the X-Men universe to the MCU. That connection came from the final scene of the series’ fifth episode, when Wanda’s brother Mercury appears.
The expectation for the return of the character was great, since Vision had also returned from the dead. But the public was taken by surprise when the one who appeared was the version played by Evan Peters in the X-Men films, and not that of actor Aaron Taylor-Johson who was part of the MCU.
This, therefore, establishes the first bridge between X-Men and Marvel, a very exciting connection for fans, opening up new possibilities for crossovers. The sixth episode of the series was released on Friday (12) on Disney +.
In addition to all the expectations for the union of the MCU with the X-Men, an important question for those who want to follow the story of Wanda and Visão in the series is: how did their relationship begin?
