Player of the Brazilian volleyball team, Douglas Souza is at the Tokyo Olympics and has become a sensation on social media in recent days. At 25, the 2016 Olympic champion has nearly 900,000 followers on Instagram alone and has seen his videos go viral on social media. But who is the athlete?

Souza was born in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP) and started in the sport on a doctor’s recommendation to treat a severe bronchitis when he was still a child. At age 11, he won the South American Children’s Championship. At the 2015 Toronto Pan American Games, the athlete won a silver medal.

In 2016, he was runner-up in the World League and became champion at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Outside the national team, the athlete plays for Taubaté.

Douglas Silva is 1.99 meters tall, weighs 75 kilos, acts as a pointer and is an open homosexual. In addition to being the first Brazilian men’s volleyball team player to declare himself gay, in 2018, he dates Gabriel Augusto Campos and frequently makes statements on social media.

In Tokyo, the darling of the web makes several Stories on Instagram to show behind the scenes of the competition, but his spontaneous way has conquered internet users. He has already appeared nearly breaking the cardboard bed of the Olympic Village, singing Pabllo Vittar songs and parading around a court during practice.

The success began to attract the attention of celebrities such as BBB21 runner-up Camilla de Lucas. The possible future digital influencer signed a contract with Mynd8, an agency that has Preta Gil among its partners.
