Starring Jane Fonda, 83, and Lily Tomlin, 81, the Grace and Frankie series has not yet resumed recording for the seventh and final season, paralyzed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The work was interrupted in March last year and will only return in June this year, 15 months after the break.

O TV News confirmed with production sources that the cast is expected to record again on June 7, a Monday. The date matches the forecast made by Jane Fonda, who speculated on her blog that the team wanted to enter the studio again in June – before, she had said January, which did not happen.

The longer-than-usual hiatus (most of the North American series returned to recording last year) is due to the old age of the cast – in addition to the two, the attraction features Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston, both 80 years old. Netflix and producer Skydance wanted to ensure that actors could work without taking any risks.

The disease is now more controlled in the United States: Jane Fonda, for example, received the first dose of the vaccine on January 31. “It doesn’t hurt”, celebrated the actress when sharing the scene on her Instagram profile.

Netflix renewed Grace and Frankie for the seventh season in September 2019, before it even debuted its sixth year – released in January last year. With recordings hindered by the pandemic, however, the final round of episodes should not be streaming until next year.

The series tells the story of two very different women who come together after discovering that their respective husbands are gay and intend to get married. Critically praised, both Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin were nominated for Emmy for best actress in comedy over the seasons.
