Prime Time Zone, Sports: The BCCI fired the curator who made the pitch after the Indian team suffered a crushing defeat in the first Test in Chennai. The second Test between India and England will be played at the same venue from Saturday. However, Team India has appointed a different curator for the pitch being prepared for the second Test following complaints from cricketers. Team management and local chief groundsman V. Ramesh Kumar are giving instructions on pitch preparation.

The first Test pitch was prepared under the supervision of Central Zone curator Taposh Chatterjee. However, he was relieved of his Test duties and hired to prepare the pitches for the Vijay Hazare Trophy to be played at indoor and Jaipur stadiums. The last two days during the first Test the pitch got worse. Ishant Sharma, however, described the pitch as a dirt road. Captain Virat Kohli also expressed dissatisfaction with the nature of the pitch. The pitch is then prepared according to team management instructions. India will exit the ICC World Test Championship after losing one of the remaining three Tests. This makes the pitch more suitable for spinners.
