In the “final” of the Revelation League, Estoril beat Leixões 2-0 and became champion. Two expulsions conditioned the performance of the visiting team.
O Estoril is the new national under-23 champion. The second edition of the Revelation League ended on Tuesday, with an authentic “Final” between Estoril and Leixões, which Estoril won at home for 2-0.
The victory allowed Estoril to match Leixões in the classification, with 32 points, but the group “canarinho” was champion because of the direct confrontation (1-0 on the first lap, 2-0 on the second).
Leixões only had 11 youngsters on the field for nine minutes. Right at the start of the match, when Mario Junior (Leixões) prevented Lucho Vega (Estoril) from isolating himself in front of the goalkeeper, the Leixões defender was sent off. Direct red card, even before 10 minutes.
Even in numerical superiority, Estoril played a first part without good criteria, clearly nervosa, and the visitors were holding without much difficulty the goalless draw, which would give Leixões the title.
Macula opened the scoring early in the second half, with a good cross shot inside the area.
Over the quarter-hour of the second half, a new red card straight to Leixões. When everything was ready to be scored a corner kick, André Lacximicant he passed by the referee and said something to the match judge, who expelled the forward from Leixões. Were more than 30 minutes to line up with nine players but even so, the Matosinhos team was close to the equalizer in the final minutes.
However, in a quick counterattack, in which four Estoril players appeared in front of the goalkeeper, Rúben Pina scored easily and closed the result and closed the championship.
Estoril is the successor to the Sport of Birds, who was under-23 national champion two years ago. Behind the duo Estoril and Leixões was the Sporting de Braga, just three points away (29), having also fought for the title until the penultimate round of the Revelation League.
