Liverpool had intentions of observing Otávio and Fábio Vieira, but the Portuguese-Brazilian’s early departure ended up not allowing it.
Liverpool traveled to Invicta to face FC Porto in the 2nd round of the Champions League group stage. The visit to Estádio do Dragão was fruitful, with the reds to achieve an expressive victory by 1-5.
However, Jürgen Klopp had other plans besides the game: observe Otávio e Fabio Vieira, write the Liverpool Echo.
The plan turned out to be flawed, since Otávio was injured of the match at 14 minutes, giving way, precisely, to Fábio Vieira. The young man ended up watching Mehdi Taremi for the white and blues’ only goal.
The two white and blue players are targets identified by Liverpool coach and there was no better opportunity to see them in action than this. Just this summer, there was talk that Liverpool were in negotiations advanced by Otávio, allegedly offering 40 million euros for the Portuguese international.
Fábio Vieira is another player who has been linked to a transfer to Anfield, with the midfielder being considered as a bargaining chip in the deal that brought Marko Grujic to Portugal.
FC Porto is studying the renewal of the young player’s contract, which recently started to be represented by Gestifute, by Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese super agent is now leading negotiations with FC Porto to renew the athlete’s bond.
His contract with the ‘dragons’ ends in June 2022. The objective is now to avoid a zero-cost exit. The 21-year-old is shielded with a 30 million euro termination clause, which may become 50 million.
