Nadal, who is looking for a record 21st Grand Slam title, has shocked fans by falling behind in the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Stefanos lost to Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (4), 4-6, 5-7. Nadal dominated by winning the first two sets .. then lost control of the game. This is only the third time in Nadal’s career that he has won two sets and then lost the match. He previously lost to Federer at the Miami Open in 2005 and to Fognini at the Australian Open in 2015. Tsitsipas, who won over Federer, will face Daniel Medvedev in the semis on Friday.
Women’s singles World No. 1 Ash Barty lost to 25th seed Carolina Muchova. Barty lost 6-1, 3-6, 2-6 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday and exited without fulfilling her Australian Open dream. Naomi Osaka will face Serena Williams and Carolina Muchova will face Jennifer Bardy in the women’s semis on Thursday.
