The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (DEM), again allowed the realization of football competitions in the municipality from the day April 9th. The decision was announced in a decree published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality on Friday, 2. “Competitions and training in high-performance sports modalities are also allowed, in any case the presence of the public is forbidden”, says the decree. Therefore, Maracanã, Engenhão and São Januário stadiums are authorized to host sports matches as of the Friday of next week, 9. Games in the capital of Rio de Janeiro have been banned since March 26, when the City Hall published a note forbidding any football match between clubs in other states or interstate competitions in the municipality.
