The ‘ICC Player of the Month’ awards will be presented every month. The ICC on Tuesday announced the names of the nominees for the January award. The awards will be given not only to men but also to women.
The ICC Player of the Month race includes Rishabh Pant, England captain Joe Root and Ireland cricketer Paul Stirling. Rishabh Pant, who played a pivotal role in Team India’s historic victory in the recent Gabba Test, has been nominated. Joe Root was instrumental in the 2-0 Test victory over Sri Lanka. He scored a double century and another century in that series. Ireland cricketer Paul Stirling impressed in the ODI series against Afghanistan. Among the women cricketers are Diana Beg (Pakistan), Shabnim Ismail (South Africa) and Marijane Cop (South Africa). The winners will be announced on the 7th of this month.
