Coach Rúben Amorim has extended the contract with Sporting for another season, until June 30, 2024, the club announced this Thursday.
The 36-year-old coach succeeded Silas, current coach of Famalicão, on March 5, 2020. At the time, he was hired by the ‘lions’ at Sporting de Braga, for 10 million euros, for three seasons, until the end of the season. season 2022/23.
Now, both parties have agreed to add a year to the bond initialed by the coach last year. In addition, the ‘lions’ increased the termination clause technician and improved their salary conditions, writes the MoreFootball.
“These are obviously different moments. The club’s momentum has changed, but the ambition is the same. We have the same to win and the same challenges. For his part, the president of Sporting, Frederico Varandas, praised the sportinguista coach: “Rúben Amorim is a brilliant and loyal coach and he is a man with principles. These qualities, for us, are very important, even more so as a coach who deals with kids who are not yet trained. It is extremely important to have a coach to set an example as he does. It is a very happy day for Sporting because I am convinced that it is the right man to make this club grow and be increasingly competitive ”.
The day before serving a year in office, Rúben Amorim renewed his relationship with the club, which leads the I Liga, without defeats, after 21 days, with nine points of advantage over Sporting de Braga, 10 against the champion FC Porto and 13 in relation to Benfica.
At Sporting’s technical command, Rúben Amorim has already lifted the League Cup, the second as a coach, after winning in 2019/20 by Braga.
Sporting is the third club that Rúben Amorim coaches, after a short spell in 2018/19 at Casa Pia (Portugal Championship), from which he left, punished by the Disciplinary Board [decisão mais tarde revogada pelo Tribunal Arbitral do Desporto], for allegedly giving indications as a trainee coach.
Then, he took over Sporting de Braga B, for about two months, until he succeeded Ricardo Sá Pinto in the main team of the Minho.
