O Santos issued a statement on the afternoon of Friday, 16, to say it is calm after receiving the news that the Independent, from Argentina, will try to cancel the match played yesterday against the Brazilian team, in Vila Belmiro, valid for the round of 16 of the South American Cupthe Fish won 1 to 0. The Argentine club claims that Kaio Jorge, scorer of the Santos goal, could not have taken the field because he had three yellow cards in the liberators and, therefore, he should be suspended from another tournament organized by the Conmebol.

Today, however, Santos was confident about the subject. “To avoid any doubt, the Club formalized official consultations with Conmebol regarding the selection of athletes Kaio Jorge and Camacho. In both situations, the entity’s response, as Santos had already expected, was positive in relation to the selection of athletes”, said the board of directors of the beach association, citing article 75.3 of the Conmebol Disciplinary Code. The item provides that “the suspension attributed to a player, by accumulation of yellow cards, in different matches in the same competition, will in no case be transferred to another competition.”

Santos FC clarifies that striker Kaio Jorge was able to play against Independiente, from Argentina, for Conmebol Sudamericana, on Thursday, the 15th, in Vila Belmiro. To avoid any doubt, the Club formalized official consultations with Conmebol regarding the selection of athletes Kaio Jorge and Camacho. In both situations, the entity’s response, as Santos had expected, was positive in relation to the selection of athletes.

Kaio Jorge received the third yellow card in the Club’s last match for Conmebol Libertadores, against Barcelona, ​​Ecuador, but according to article 75.3 of the Conmebol Disciplinary Code – “the suspension attributed to a player, due to accumulation of yellow cards, in different matches, in the same competition, in no case will it be transferred to the other competition”.

In the case of Camacho, Santos FC is supported by article 3.7.4.1 of the Club Manual of Conmebol Sudamericana. Santos FC reiterates that both the Football Department and the Legal Department took every precaution in each situation, in order to avoid damage to the Club.
