Amorim has a contract until June 2023 and, with this renewal, would extend the contractual relationship with Sporting until 2024, which would also imply an improvement in wages. According to the sportsman O Jogo, his gross salary may rise from the current 2.7 to the six million euros from the next season.
The current contract already contemplated an increase to four million euros if he won, and if the title comes to fruition, the coach will still win a prize of 2.3 million euros.
Regarding the prizes, little changes with the new contract, according to O Jogo. The new link will include a sum for participation in the Champions League, for an eventual victory in the Europa League (1.7 million), for victory in the Portuguese Cup (560 thousand euros) and for winning the League Cup (328 thousand euros) ), Amorim’s first trophy at the helm of the Leonine team.
This agreement, which is due to be made official in the coming days, also provides for an increase in the termination clause from 20 to EUR 30 million, a way to hold on to the coach, after the sports press has already started to advance that some English clubs are interested in the 38-year-old.
Rúben Amorim arrived in Alvalade from SC Braga, in March 2020, for 20 million euros, a value that made him the most expensive coach in the history of Portuguese football.
