The Brazilian Championship of the 2020 season comes to an end next Thursday, 25, and even the dispute for artillery is open
THE Brazilian Championship of the 2020 season comes to an end next Thursday, the 25th, with all matches played in the 38th round, the last of the long tournament. With the 10 matches scheduled to happen simultaneously, at 21:30 (Brasília time), the journey will serve to decide the title, the last spot in the group stage of Copa Libertadores de América, the last place in the Copa Sudamericana, the room lowered to the B series and also define who will be the competition’s top scorer. In addition, a fifth spot in the Libertadores group stage may be put forward, but will depend on the outcome of the decision of the Brazil’s Cup. And of all the clashes, only three will have a friendly character: Atlético-MG x Palm Trees, Ceara x Botafogo e Atlético-GO x Coritiba.
The greatest attention will, of course, be concentrated on Flamengo e International. The Rio team is the leader of the Brasileirão with 71 points and will be champion if they win the São Paulo at Morumbi. But he can still be overtaken by Inter, with 69 and that will receive the Corinthians in Beira-Rio. The duel between Flamengo and São Paulo will also be decisive to define the last guaranteed group stage of the Copa Libertadores. After being surprised by Botafogo, the São Paulo team has 63 points, continues in fourth place and needs the victory to stay with the fourth spot. If you lose or draw, you can be overcome by Fluminense (61), who will receive the Strength. The sixth place in the South American division distributed by the Brasileirão will be a dispute between clubs in the Northeast: Sport (42 points and 12 wins), Bahia (41 points and 11 wins) and Fortaleza (41 points and 10 wins). They will face Athletico-PR, Santos and Flu on Thursday, with only the Bahian tricolor being principal. In the fight against relegation, the dispute is practically protocol. Fortaleza, with 41 points and a negative balance of 8 goals, will try to avoid a tragedy and confirm the fall of the Basque, with 38 and -20 balance. The Rio team will face the Go.
G5? – It will only be possible to know after the dispute of the decision of the Copa do Brasil – the return game was scheduled for March 7 -, but the Brasileirão will distribute a fifth place in the group stage of the Libertadores if Palmeiras is the champion of the tournament kill- Woods. This spot will then be with Fluminense (5th, with 61 points) or Grêmio (6th, with 59). In the final round, they will face Fortaleza and Red Bull Bragantino, respectively. It is worth remembering that CBF also distributes awards at the Brasileirão according to the final position. So, even if not for the search of a cup, a place in a continental tournament or to avoid relegation, there will be at least a financial motivation for most of those involved in Thursday’s clashes. In addition, Claudinho (RB Bragantino), Thiago Galhardo (Internacional), Marinho (Santos) and Luciano (São Paulo) are tied in the artillery with 17 goals, fighting for the competition’s top scorer award.
