The recent rivalry between Flamengo e Palm Trees won a new chapter this Monday, 1st. The conquest of the title of Brazilian championship last Thursday, 25th, put the carioca club at the top of the ranking of clubs in the CBF, overtaking Palmeiras. The table was released today by the entity that runs national football before the definition of the Brazil’s Cup. The Gávea team has 16,768 points, while the alviverde paulista, champion of the Copa Libertadores, accumulates 16,110. Grêmio, an opponent of Palmeiras in the final of the Brazil Cup, is in third place, with 15,180. Brazilian runner-up, the International jumped from ninth to fourth (13,310 points), followed by Athletico-PR, which has 12,968. The cruise, who played in the Serie B of 2020 and failed to gain access, dropped from fourth to tenth place, with 11,768 points.
Another three teams from São Paulo are in the top ten. Finalist of the Libertadores, the Santos is the sixth place (12,776 points), ahead of the Corinthians, which has 12,032. The eighth place is the São Paulo (11,870), followed by Atlético-MG, with 11,789 points. The ranking of CBF clubs, in addition to positioning the teams with the best campaign of the season, also serves to classify smaller teams in the various national competitions. A new version will be released next week, after the definition of the Brazil Cup at Allianz Parque, with the second game between Palmeiras and Grêmio on Sunday.
