Former midfielder would be assistant coach until the 2022 World Cup and after the tournament he would take over Tite’s place
Before announcing your renewal with Al Sadd, from Qatar, Xavi Hernandez would have been sought by the CBF to work as a technical assistant to Tite on Brazilian Team, informs the Spanish newspaper ‘As’. According to the publication, the Brazilian federation’s proposal included the position of assisting 2022 Cup and, later, the former player would assume the position of Adenor. He would have refused that offer and also that of training the Borussia Dortmund, from Germany, next season. Xavi has just renewed his contract with the Qatar team until the year 2023, but has a curious clause if the Barcelona call him to take over as coach of the main team, leaving free of charge and paying only a symbolic fine.
The idea of the president of Barça, Joan Laporta, is to count on the ex-midfielder in charge of the culé team next season, to replace Ronald Koeman. However, due to having a small resume (only three years of activity), the hiring of Xavi still causes strangeness by the club’s officers. But it is worth remembering that it was the same Laporta who bet on Pep Guardiola when he was at the beginning of his career as a coach and had no significant titles. At the helm of Al Sadd, Xavi once won the Qatar League, twice the Qatar Cup, a Super Cup, a Qatar Emir Cup and a Qatari Star Cup.
