One of the biggest successes of the game market in 2020, the game Fall Guys will be part of the repertoire of Epic Games.
Mediatonic, the developer of the title, was bought by the gaming giant in an agreement that had no figures released by the parties.
The companies said the deal does not change the game on existing platforms, such as PC and PlayStation. In fact, the game will continue to be sold on Steam and, according to the company, should be developed for Nintendo Switch and Xbox soon.
The agreement is interesting for Epic Games, which has the deep pocket to bet on partnerships and acquisitions, thanks to the success of Fortnite, which can even benefit from a platform like Fall Guys for holding events, exchanging characters and other content linking both games.
“Fortnite and Rocket League have a number of functions that we would love to bring to Fall Guys, like account systems, cross-play, team versus team modes, etc. We will work to bring these features to Fall Guys,” Mediatonic said in note that announced the merger.
For Epic, the deal fits into the strategy of dominating the games market. Fortnite continues to attract new players, willing to put money into events, skins and other aesthetic benefits. Epic values this business model and had already adopted a similar strategy with Psyonix, developer of the Rocket League.
