O Facebook registered a net profit of US$ 10.394 billion in the second quarter, an improvement compared to the result of US$ 5.178 billion in the same period last year. Earnings per share were $3.61 from $1.80 previously, above the $3.04 forecast by analysts polled by FactSet.
The company’s revenue stood at $29.08 billion in the second quarter, from $18.687 billion in the same period in 2020. The number of daily active users on the social network was 1.91 billion on average in June 2021, a an increase of 7% year-on-year, says the company.
The company’s total costs and expenses, however, also advanced, to $16.710 billion in the second quarter. The increase in this case was 31%, in the annual comparison. The company also said it expects total revenue growth to “slow down modestly” in the second half, compared to the pace seen in the second quarter.
After the balance, the stock retreated 3.02% in after hours in New York at 17:25 (GMT).
