A Globe closed a broad agreement with the Google to accelerate your digital transformation process. The partnership ranges from Google’s cloud computing service, Google Cloud, to Android TV, the operating system for televisions adopted in Brazil by companies like TCL and Panasonic. This is one of the largest contracts that Google Cloud has signed with a company in Brazil and Latin America. The value, however, has not been revealed.
The partnership between companies is unprecedented in the world and will make it possible to digitize a large part of Globo’s content collection, in addition to bringing the benefits of artificial intelligence to better understand the consumer and help in the broadcaster’s business.
With the alliance, Globoplay will be native to TVs with the Android system to allow a more fluid navigation, allowing the experience to be practically without differences between an image signal coming from the TV and an image signal coming from the internet. It is worth noting that the Tizen system, from Samsung TVs, the market leader, has a similar optimization in the application. According to Globo, connected TV represents 60% of the time people spend watching their content via streaming.
“The partnership with Globo represents a milestone in the Google Cloud journey in Latin America and demonstrates our willingness to help our customers innovate and gain more efficiency,” said Eduardo Lopez, President of Google Cloud for Latin America, for EXAM. “Google Cloud has a platform with high processing power, flexibility and security. We will work with machine learning and artificial intelligence to help Globo in the digital transformation ”, said Lopez.
Globo will migrate 100% of its data centers to the Google cloud. Not only content, but also digital products and services will be transferred, including G1, GE.com, Gshow and Globoplay.
For Raymundo Barros, director of strategy and technology at Globo, the adoption of Google Cloud should accelerate the advance of Globoplay in the Brazilian market, although the broadcaster has already experimented with content production in cloud computing before. The benefits pointed out for the service are improvements in infrastructure, storage and distribution of content, in addition to personalization of editorial and advertising content.
“Globoplay is today one of our main assets, which continues to grow. In recent years, we had reached a high level in our digital products and services, with more than 100 million daily unique users, who no longer spoke to our company. operation model from a data center. This becomes even clearer when, for example, we look at the success of BBB21, a season that is 300% longer, be it in the metrics of hours consumed, votes per minute etc. All this change level already required us to access resources at scale in the public cloud, so the partnership with Google Could arrives at an opportune moment, bringing robustness, gain of scale and speed to our operations “, said Barros to EXAM.
